How is your earning? So here we start. Check the pic on the right. A Google user searches for a site providing Bollywood movies download. And he don’t need to search more as it seems to him that the first result titled ‘Bollywood Movies Download Center’ would be sufficient for him. He follows the link. How do ‘They’ make money from Google adsense? Well there are a lot of people who genuinely work hard to make money from Google Adsense in a fair way. What they earn is what they really deserve.

This post is regarding ‘them’ who work the other way. They work hard but the other way. They work hard to turn a movie lover visitor to a potential customer for Motor Insurance companies (not really, as the customer turns back after clicking the ad) .

This post is a case study of a particular site (group of site in reality) using Black Hat Adsense searning techniques.

The success and failure of your online campaign depends completely upon the quality of your Landing page. In this post I am going to discuss some tips which you can implement to make your landing page more effective with increased conversion rate.
Clear Call to Action: - You should define your objectives clearly before designing your landing page for your PPC campaign. It could be anything like selling a product, getting some information, giving some free products etc.

Relevance to the Ad: - Make sure that your landing page is relevant to your ad. If the ad user clicks to reach your website offers them a free report than you landing page should contain a clear link to download that report for free. Don’t direct them to general page where user needs to search for the offer and leave your website in Frustration. The traffic you get them from PPC Campaigns is much targeted and has a specific goal in their mind. Hence, it’s better to design separate landing pages for each offer and direct traffic to these landing pages.

Scan able: - Nobody is going to read each word of your Landing Page. They Will Scan your Page looking for important point and try to gather as much information as can. Design your Landing Page in a way so that important points could be easily spotted. Make them Bold So that important points can stand out from the rest of your Landing Page.

Inverted Pyramid Structure: - While designing your Landing page. Put the conclusion and important points at the top and other less important information at bottom. As if your prospects have to scroll down to search for the important information they may not find it and hence won’t convert.

Building Credibility: -You need to build credibility among your customers before selling anything to them. Adding Honest Reviews and testimonials are great way to build trust between your customers and encourage them to take the desired action.

Remove Distractions: - Your Landing page should focus only on one offer from top to bottom. Remove Distractions like links to other pages which can cause your visitor to wander away from your page. It will prevent visitors from going to other sections of site and take the desired action for the attainment of your goals.

Simplicity: - Keep your Landing Page simple and short. Landing pages which are complex can create confusion among user and distract their mind. Avoid excessive use of images and flash in your Landing Pages.

Adding Graphics: - Adding Relevant images are great way to tell customers about your products and offers and can affect your customer rates. But avoid the excessive use and it would increase the loading time of your page.

Important Elements above the fold: - Place important elements like Compelling Headlines, offer mentioned in Ad, Call to Action Link above the fold. So that visitor sees them immediately they arrive on Landing Page without scrolling down.

Run Tests: - Create various landing pages for the same offer and run tests to see which landing page converts well. You can run A/b tests to track which element works better than others. You can use these results to maximize the performance of your landing pages.

Why the SEO and Social Media Industry will Hurt You

I have talked about the importance of SEO a lot over the years but no more. The simple fact is that SEO - or at least what the experts claim constitutes SEO is not the same as what I think it is. To me SEO means just one thing - keyword targeted backlinks. That`s it. You don't need to know another thing to rank well in the search engines. Ok - sure, tell Google what your site is about preferably using your primary keyword in your url, website title and write content related to your keyword. I won't even bother to say you even have to do that but it helps. Adobe has owned the "click here" keyword for years and they don't use that term at all. They rank for the term because they have the backlinks that use the term "click here" in the anchor text.
Adobe doesn't optimize a damn thing to rank for that term - no H1 tags, no clean code, no pretty website and no text or keywords relevant to the term. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

They just have the best assortment of keyword anchored backlinks using the term and maybe even the most. Period.

So why does a SEO industry even exist?

Quite frankly it's all smoke and mirrors and designed to take money off of people who don't know any better. Dave Starr from Living in the Philippines For Real sent me an email this morning pointing out that some fella known as Great Scott wrote a post called Whiteboard Friday - Getting Indented Listings and that it was posted on SEOmoz. Dave suggested that the fella must read my blog as his post is similar to the last one I wrote about Getting Double Indexing in the SERP's. The subject is the same but I don't know how similar it is - it's a video presentation and I haven't bothered to watch it.

What for? - I already know how to do that so a waste of my time but thanks Dave for letting me know. I've never read a thing on SEOmoz. I get lots of emails referring to the site for one reason or another and I know that the owner is some kind of big shot in the SEO world but as I said above - the SEO world is all nonsense to me. I have nothing against the owner as I don't know him - I only know this - I've never read anything about SEO from anyone and don't really understand why such sites exist. How do you build a site around "Get Keyword Targeted Backlinks"?

Once you have told people that what else is there to say?

So my view has always been that everything else is just fluff or the owners of SEO sites are trying to make money providing services to people who don't know any better. I've said this before - if I charge you $10,000 to get your site ranked well in the search engines I have to convince you that what I do is "complicated" and involves "lots of work" and there are many "metrics" involved. White hat or black hat the end result is always the same - if a site ranks well in the search engines then it is because of one thing and one thing only - backlinks. How these experts get those backlinks is, I suppose, what differentiates the well-respected ethical SEO experts like SEOmoz from the spam SEO experts.

Now I'm sure many ethical experts will try and convince me that there are all sorts of important aspects to ranking well but they will be wasting their time. The fact is I have been ranking sites on top of the serps for years without ever reading anything SEO related and don't have a clue about the "200" metrics that are involved in "good website development". The only reason I know of 200 metrics is because my readers keep asking me about them. I only recently learned about "good website development" because it showed up in an article one of my readers pointed me to. Apparently it means "good SEO" or in my parlance people who build backlinks ethically. They never mention "backlinks" though because well that would then be un-ethical. They don't build backlinks - they practice "good website development". Get it? Wink Wink.

(Btw - before someone wants to play the spam card on me - every site I have on top of the serp's has legit content that provides accurate and useful info for the people who visit my sites. Exactly the content they are looking for based on the keyword they enter into the search box)

As far as "ethics" is concerned - it's all bullshit to me. There is nothing ethical or unethical about ranking well in a search engine. It's just a search engine - not a God. There are no rules because there are no laws. When laws are passed stating that one may only achieve search engine dominance by doing A and B then doing C will become illegal and maybe unethical. Till then it's all just a competition and if people frown on your methods so what? If you win you win. If you lose you lose.

An aside - My friend Chewie, who runs a make money online blog called What A Wookie and I have been working on some sites lately and a few weeks ago we built a new site targeting a popular product. Yesterday it started showing up on page 1 of several data centers for its main keyword. It outranks the ever popular wikipedia entry and dozens of other aged and trusted sites. I don't recall optimizing it for 200 different things. Maybe I'm just a genius and create perfect sites just by luck or unconscious skill but I doubt it. I do know that I wrote three posts targeting three different long tail keywords that all contained the main keyword in them. I know that the blog title contains the main keyword and I know the post titles use variations of the primary keyword. And I know the content of the posts are relevant and accurate in regards to the product. I also know that I posted 3 relevant articles (real articles about the product - not spun or spam) on three different but related sites and linked them all to the new site using three variations of the keyword in the anchored links. I also know that the new site didn't get indexed until I posted the links on the other sites. I also know that the other sites have authority in the niche. So you tell me - how did the new site get to number 6 on G in two weeks for a term that wikipedia ranks number 9 for after several years in existence. In fact the only sites that outrank our site are the owners of the product and the site that they sell the product on. They have 3 listings each. The answer - just 3 measly backlinks on three relevant sites. I guess that is "good website development". And I didn't read a single SEO expert to do it.

So is that unethical? Why? Our site delivers exactly what a searcher is looking for if they type in the keyword. They will leave happy with the product. Is it unethical to rank higher than someone else just because the other site has been around longer or has more pages or more fans and readers? Bullshit. It's just business and competition is part of business. If we make money and they don't too bad - we did a better job.

That's how I feel about the SEO experts and why you don't need to waste your time with them and now let's look at the "Social Media" crowd.

I saw Justin from SEOZombie post a twit or tweet or what ever the hell you call it the other day about some other fella named Derek Powazek who was ranting about SEO and stated the following,

Search Engine Optimization is not a legitimate form of marketing. It should not be undertaken by people with brains or souls. If someone charges you for SEO, you have been conned.

This fella feels that he has the one true way for marketing online,

   The One True Way

Which brings us, finally, to the One True Way to get a lot of traffic on the web. It’s pretty simple, and I’m going to give it to you here, for free:

Make something great. Tell people about it. Do it again.

He then proceeded to use facebook and twitter and an email to "tell People About it".

His premise is that all you need is social media in order to get traffic. No SEO at all. The end result of his efforts was that he promptly got his post ranked #9 in Google for the term SEO. His follow up post stated the following,

And after less than 24 hours, my post about SEO is the ninth Google result for “SEO”. (Logged out, so no personalization. I’m not counting the indented sub-results or the Google in-site promotions.)

His contention was that all it took was social media to do it. In reality all it took was a shit load of backlinks from the people who read his social media promoted post - not the social media itself. Ironic that he promotes social media as the panacea and yet uses it for SEO - or in my terms "to get keyword anchored backlinks". There is a certain irony in lionizing seo and then bragging about how he managed to rank well in the search engines.

Worse he offers the following advice that both tells you how to rank well in Google (he is wrong) and why you shouldn't use Google because all you need is social media.

CLIENTS: If someone approaches you about optimizing your search engine placement, they’re running a scam. Ignore them. If your site isn’t showing up in Google, fire whoever is making your web pages and hire someone better. Sign up for social media services (Twitter, Facebook, etc) and participate there. Pay for quality writers and designers – that’s what will actually raise your ranking in the long term.

WEB DESIGNERS: Learn to code your own pages. If you can’t, hire someone who can, and listen to them when they tell you why putting all that text in an image is a bad idea.

WEB DEVELOPERS: Educate your designers about proper web development. Educate your clients about how the web works. Follow Google’s advice. Read A List Apart. Writing good code won’t just help your Google rank, it’ll make certain your site is accessible to screen readers, mobile devices, and all the browsers out there.

SEO SPECIALISTS: If all you do is SEO, you need to expand. Hire a visual designer and some kickass coders and become a real web agency. Start making sites good from the get-go instead of cleaning up other people’s messes. Besides, if all you do is SEO, your days are numbered. Social media is rapidly becoming much more important than Google. (Number one referrer to my site this week? Twitter.)

Really? He tells us that Google is unimportant and validates his success by demonstrating how well he ranks in Google...

Btw - you can see his ranking for SEO here - #9 In Google for SEO

And BTW again - he no longer ranks for it - long gone and I would explain why but since G doesn't matter...

The thing is - is he right? All you need is social media to drive traffic? Well I suppose if all you want are readers he is right. If you want to make money (a subject he is noticeably quiet about) then social media won't deliver the right kind of traffic. I would be more impressed if he managed to get traffic for a niche that made money. If he had written a post about Credit Cards and his horde of readers came and signed up for a credit card I would have been impressed. If he had managed a page 1 ranking on G for that term I would have been impressed. (And remained there).

This is the same old same old - a blogger writing a post that interests other bloggers (the people who use social media) and they write about it and link to him supplying the "keyword anchored backlink" that "briefly" puts his post on page one of the serp's. Then the assumption is that it worked because he got a bunch of traffic to his blog - readers, not buyers - and then they leave and he has to start all over again with a new post in order to get more useless traffic to his site. Sound familiar?

Remember the fake Steve Jobs? What did he have - a million readers and quit because he never made a dime. Getting traffic for the sake of traffic is a time wasting and useless endeavor that the Social media sycophants just never clue into until one day they ask themselves... "Ya' know - this is all good fun but what is the point?"

Derek is dead wrong when he says,

Pay for quality writers and designers – that’s what will actually raise your ranking in the long term.

On one hand he says G is dead but he is telling people what he thinks will get them ranked well. If G is dying then why is he concerned about how to rank well? Ultimately his advice is as bad as all the SEO experts. Having good code, pretty sites and great content has nothing to do with ranking well in the search engines. His post didn't make first page for any of those reasons - it made first page because he got a shit load of backlinks using the term "SEO" in the anchor text of the link. That's the only reason. Sure he used social media to get the links but others can do the same thing buying links and never set a virtual foot on a social media site.

My point is this - if you have a niche that is something people naturally have a social interest in like Politics, Blogging, Internet Marketing, Technology etc then yes you can use social media to drive traffic. Just understand that that traffic is not the type that will make you money and if having readers is all you want then go for it. Of course ranking number 1 on G for all those niches will also bring in traffic - more in the long run as you won't have to work for it. You can leave a post up for six months and your traffic will still show up every day. If you use social media to drive traffic you will have to post a lot and then spam the social media sites. In other words work for it.

If you want to make money online then you will have to get traffic for a niche that can convert visitors into buyers. If Derek or anyone else can do this for a site that sells "Oil Filters" using social media then please show me. Until then you might want to rank number 1 for "oil filters" on Google and the only way you will do that is to get more keyword anchored backlinks than Fram. You won't do it with better code, or a pretty site, or better writers. You won't do it with Twitter or Facebook.

In short every time I here a Blogger rave about the wonders of social media and rant about Google's demise I have to ask - you do know that 99% of all the websites and blogs online are there to market a product in order to make money for the owner, don't you? Pretty hard to build a huge social following for Oil filters or window blinds.

For the SEO crowd - how are all your metrics going to outrank Fram? All that good code and "good website design" going to do it?

I'll stick to building "keyword anchored backlinks", make money and leave all the bullshit to the experts - social and SEO.

Cheers,

Griz

Some may say too many, however money can be made if simple guidelines of business practice are followed and you do not expect too much too quickly......
. There are many millions of blogs out there, and rewards may be slow in coming your way. Having said that, many people find that they can easily earn a living out of blogging for a niche market, taking advantage of a general curiosity people have as well as catering for a very devoted market. Here's a few ways to make the most of your online money making opportunities.

1. Make sure what you are writing about is a labor of love! If you are writing about something you are passionate about, it will show. The more people that view your page and are impressed by your devotion to the subject, the more likely they are to return to your page (no matter how obscure your subject matter) and recommend it to other people.

2. Don't expect too much too soon: As I have said, you cannot expect to make a million overnight. Blogging, especially blogging with a niche audience in mind, is a long term project. Traffic is the buzz word, and traffic to your blog can be built upon slowly by getting yourself out into your niche audience and getting yourself recognized as an authoritative figure. It pays off.

3. Seek Advice: There are plenty of services out there such as problogger.net which offer step by step instructions in how to create a successful blog. They offer good rules to stick by and tips in how to make big money when you get traffic flowing to view your content.

4. Sign up with AdSense: Google AdSense is a facility which is easy to sign up for (free!) and can earn you quite healthy sums of money in the long run. Google pay you whenever someone clicks on the adverts that they have put on your blog, which is related to your content. Bear in mind, that this service only really starts to come into its own when you have lots of traffic viewing your site per day.

5. Get yourself involved with your readership: If you are recognized in the community, people respect your opinions and what you write about and are more likely to visit your blog. This is especially important with niche blogging, and simple strategies such as replying personally to the comments you get in the early stages of your blog can really boost your traffic and help people refer know who you are. Sign up to forums relating to your subject, and invest time in getting to know the type of person who is likely to read your content.

These tips may actually seem quite obvious but there is so much to learn when you first start a blog. Persevere however, and you may find yourself sitting on a small fortune by writing content that you are passionate about and people really enjoy reading.

This article details the steps necessary to automatically add Google AdSense ads within InstantForum.NET topics. Although you can easily display Google AdSense through the wrapper functionality without any code changes adding your AdSense advertisements in-line within posts will increase your AdSense visibility and hopefully click-throughs.

You could easily extend this example to append the Google AdSense code to each post or use the topic keywords to determine the ads displayed. We've kept things simple in this example and are showing ads based on our AdSense ClientID. We do intend to improve support in this area with future versions to provide several methods for serving your ads with no code changes.

Add Google AdSense Ads Inline

Using the code in this example will allow you to add AdSense Ads automatically as the second post within any topic within InstantForum.NET. This is shown below...

Code Changes (Post.vb)

This code can be applied to either the End User License or Developer License. You'll only need to modify a single code-behind file.

1. Open up InstantASP.InstantForum.UI\Pages\Post.vb within Visual Studio.NET
2. Locate the "InsertPost" method around line 660. We'll need to add a call to our new methods here.
3. Below the InsertPost method add the following code. You can also find this code in the attached file below.

InsertAdSensePost - This method actually adds the post to the InstantForum.NET database.

Private Function InsertAdSensePost(ByVal intTopicID As Int32) As Int32

       ' get adsense post
       Dim AdSensePost As InstantASP.InstantForum.Components.Topic = GetGoogleAdSensePost(intTopicID)

' add the post as a reply to our topic
       Dim Topic As InstantASP.InstantForum.Components.Topic = _
      InstantASP.InstantForum.Business.Posts.InsertPost( _
      CType(ForumID.Value, Int32), _
      AdSensePost.TopicID, _
      AdSensePost.ParentID, _
      AdSensePost.UserID, _
      ctlPostControl.MessageIcon, ctlPostControl.Subject, _
      "", AdSensePost.Message, "", False, CurrentContext)

If Not Topic Is Nothing Then
           Return Topic.PostID
       Else
           Return 0
       End If

   End Function
GetGoogleAdSensePost - This method simply returns a InstantASP.InstantForum.Components.Topic object representing the Google AdSense post we wish to add/ You should modify the ClientID and AdSense client side code below to suite your requirements.

Private Function GetGoogleAdSensePost(ByVal intTopicID As Int32) As InstantASP.InstantForum.Components.Topic

' IMPORTANT: Your AdSense Client ID
Dim strAdSenseClientID As String = "pub-XXXXXXXXXXXXXX"

       ' ----------
' The actual Adsense Code that will be added to our post
' You can modify this to suite your requirements
       ' ----------
       Dim sb As New System.Text.StringBuilder
       sb.Append("")
       sb.Append("")

' create an instance of our anonymous user, you'll use this user for the adsense post
       Dim User As New InstantASP.InstantForum.Components.AnonymousUser

       Dim AdSensePost As New InstantASP.InstantForum.Components.Topic
       AdSensePost.TopicID = intTopicID
       AdSensePost.ParentID = intTopicID
       AdSensePost.UserID = User.UserID
       AdSensePost.Username = User.Username
       AdSensePost.Message = sb.ToString()

       ' return our topic object
       Return AdSensePost

   End Function
4. Once you've added the two methods above simply add a call to InsertAdSensePost from our existing InsertPost method...

   Private Function InsertPost() As Int32

' add post to database, we indicate this is not a poll below
' if successfull a topic object is returned with new post
       Dim Topic As InstantASP.InstantForum.Components.Topic = _
       InstantASP.InstantForum.Business.Posts.InsertPost(CType(ForumID.Value, Int32), _
       CType(TopicID.Value, Int32), CType(ParentID.Value, Int32), _
       MyBase.CurrentContext.CurrentUser.UserID, _
       ctlPostControl.MessageIcon, ctlPostControl.Subject, _
       ctlPostControl.Description, ctlPostControl.Message, _
       ctlPostControl.AttachmentGUID, False, CurrentContext)

       ' was post insert ok
If Not Topic Is Nothing Then

' do we have a post
           If Topic.PostID > 0 Then

' call our method to add a adsense post
               InsertAdSensePost(Topic.PostID)

   - we've removed the rest of the code for readability.

5. REbuild your solution within Visual Sutdio.NET and visit your forum installation. Add a new test topic and you should see your Google AdSense ad displayed below the first post in your topic.

That's It!

Making these changes to Post.vb will ensure a Google AdSense ad always appears as the second post within any topic within InstantForum.NET. I hope this helps generate a little extra income from your community.

It describes how to go to Blogger.com and get started posting. It took me back to that day in December 2005 when God showed me how to start my own free blogs -- now I've got more blogs than I know.

Anyway, it's been a lucrative journey, I must say. Even my 88-year-old father want to start this own blog, so I typed up some notes that I mailed to hin to go along with this quick teaching video:

Basically, to start your own free blog...

...I told my dad to take the first steps. Fill out all the information they ask of you and publish your first post.

Of course, some things are confusing and trial and error -- but you'll be amazed at how far you may go if you stick with it, plus if writing floats your boat and if you're passionate about it.

Don't get bogged down by what to name your blog or the template. You can always choose another design later -- and if you find another niche topic blog that you'd like to start, for example, elderly people who love computers, you can always start a new free blog that focuses on that topic.

Or, you don't need a topic at all

You can just name your blog your own name if you want, and if it's available.

Write about anything. But don't forget to be prepared for the world to see it. These Blogger blogs are indexed by Google -- and eventually, anyone could find it.

Blogging is so fun and rewarding.

Dive in.

Believe me, I'm blessing God for my husband and the IRS' lovely installment plan payout option this year, seeing as though we owe a lot since I made money online last year, and when you make money online through Google Adsense, Amazon Associates, Kontera, etc. -- they don't take out taxes, which is actually great, thinking of the time-value of money and all that.

Now I'm getting more organized and lining up to save more money so that we can break even next year and owe nothing. I pray.

Now that the Adsense is retiring its Referrals program in the last week of this month, Google has launched a new way for their publishers to earn.

Enter Adsense for Feeds.

A feed is a format that allows your site’s content to be delivered on the web. It allows your feed subscibers to preview the content without them having to visit your site. An example of a feed is our Pinoy Money Talk blog feed here.

Adsense for Feeds simply places targeted Google ads in your RSS feeds. Like other Google Adsense ads, you earn from the feed ads by click or by impression.

Here’s how to set up Adsense for Feeds, assuming of course you already are a Google Adsense subscriber.

Google Adsense for Feeds Adsense Referrals out, Adsense for Feeds in.

   1. Log in to your Google Adsense account and visit the “Adsense Setup” section.
   2. Click the “Adsense for Feeds” link.
   3. Create a feed ad unit by choosing the ad type, display frequency, length of article where the ads will appear, color and location of the feed ad.
   4. If you don’t have an existing feed yet, simply click the link “Burn a new feed” then type your blog address. Click the “Save” button and you’re done! Just wait for the Adsense ads to appear on your feeds.
   5. If you already have a Feedburner account, you need to migrate your feeds to your Google account. To do this, email adsense-support-aff@google.com with your (a) Feedburner account name; and (b) Google Adsense email address account. Google will then contact you regarding the next steps.

Since we’re on the topic of feeds, you might want to subscribe to our blog feed so that you’ll be updated on our site’s content.

Here are screenshots of the steps to set up Adsense for Feeds.

Normally, you can enter your Adsense PIN by going to My Account > Payment History > Please enter your PIN.

A screenshot of where you can find this in your account is shown below.

Apparently, this was not the first time a problem like this happened. Back in September 2007, several publishers also experienced errors while entering their PINs. After a few days, though, the Google engineers were able to solve the problem.

The best way to solve this now is to contact Google Adsense Support to notify them of the problem. Whether they reply to you or not, hopefully this can make them aware that the problem exists and that they need to solve this.
So try contacting Adsense Support right now and let us know if Google has started addressing this problem

Google AdSense Login Redesign

Several of you are seeing a redesigned login page for Google AdSense. I can’t reproduce this myself, but the changes make sense; the claim is now less promotional and more facts oriented*, and the introduction text is much less verbose, more to the point. Also, the whole page received a design overhaul that makes it look more fresh, and the explanatory image has been zoomed to a level which allows you to better make out details. Below the main content area, Google added what seems to be a dynamic mini-FAQ... quick tabbed answers to the basic questions people might have in regards to the program.

GeckoFly ponders: “Could this possibly be the default layout for all Google Services? Gmail? Google Doc and others? Time will tell.”

*Well, the “relevant ads” part of the claim (“earn money from relevant ads on your website”) is disputable... AdSense works for some types of content but can get pretty bad for other types of content...

[Thanks Jon Henshaw and GeckoFly! Image of new desi

It’s pretty new, and it’s working well — if you own a website, it’s well-worth giving it a try. Here’s how:

Go to Google AdSense, register, and apply for AdSense (note: the AdSense site is down sometimes).

Wait for your confirmation email (this may take some days).*

Log-in to your account, confirm the policies, and copy & paste the AdSense code into your website.

Wait some more hours, or days, and see the ads become active on your site.

*Note that for my own site, I first got an email telling me I was rejected from the program. After some more days, I got an email telling me the rejection was sent out in error, and that I can now participate.

AdSense is similar to what appears on Google when you see a search result page. Each box contains a link to the site, and a small description, followed by the site’s URL. (To be shown as advertiser, you can use Google AdWords.)
You can choose between two basic ad-layouts: horizontal (three ads on top), or vertical (up to 4 ad boxes on the right side of your page).

The Google AdSense technology makes it unnecessary for you to find the correct ads matching your site’s content. After Google has indexed them, they can automatically fill your ads with relevant content. (And of course, relevant content is important when you want to have your visitors clicking on the ads.) Added to that, they can enhance your site’s content, and become a useful feature.

Making Money with Google

Now what happens if someone clicks on the ads? You will get paid for that click.* How much you get paid depends on certain AdSense details you cannot predict. Every visit (of JavaScript-enabled browsers) is counted, so a good visitor-to-clicks ratio should help.

*You get paid if it doesn’t happen to be a public ad (e.g. for a health organization), which just happens if Google cannot match ads to your content.

Content Matching Examples

Here are some examples of how AdSense tries to match your site’s content to the advertisement content:

On OpenTrivia, Movie Section (a quiz site), you can see an ad for “QuizJunkie Quiz League - Monthly online trivia quiz league Cash prizes for all leagues www.QuizJunkie.com”. If you go straight to the trivia questions and answers page, an ad for the Amazon Godfather DVDs appears. The Geography quiz page features a sponsored link for “Globali Geography Game”.

This blog features different ads, depending on which topics I talked about that day. Mostly, that’s SEO (Search Engine Optimization) advertisement. On today’s page, I can see ads for “Website & Intranet Search” and “Usability Benchmarking”.

Sometimes, it’s unclear why a certain ad was chosen, at other times, it’s pretty obvious. For example, if you go to the Google Answers Interview with Sublime1, there’s an ad for “Spiritual Growth Program”. Checking the interview, you can notice the word “tantric”, which might have triggered this one.

Previously, I talked about possible methods to misuse Google technology to send out spam. On this page, Google “AdSenses” spam blocking and filtering software might be of additional interest to visitors; from “Block Junk Email Now” to “Protect Servers From Spam”.

Getting the Most out of AdSense

With Google AdSense, you are generally not allowed to show other advertisement on your page. (Amazon Affiliate links might be OK — just ask the AdSense support if in doubt.) But other ads might not be needed in the first place, because AdSense works quite well. To make best use of the program, have it featured on pages which:

Are highly focused on a certain topic (because this makes Google AdSense ads more relevant, increasing the chance of a click).

Are free of clutter (which would only serve to distract from the ads — and your content, of course).

Quite obviously, have high traffic (many unique visitors).

Are easily — and often — found by people coming from Google (you can check your referrer logs to find out if that’s the case), because those are the people who still might be looking for something when arriving on your site.

He was looking for a new company to process with, and brought up some good points that I think can really help business owners looking to accept credit cards.
As far as processing goes, what is important to a business doing $10M+ per month?

1. It needs to work, period!
2. God forbid something does go wrong, it needs to get fixed, fast!
3. A fair price!

It needs to work!

Theres no question that cost is not important if your processing system is not working. A processing system needs to work fast, be completely seamless, and should not have problems, ever

Ideally a business would not even know they have a merchant account would it not be for that monthly statement.

An invisible merchant account is a good merchant account!

If something does go wrong, it needs to get fixed, fast!

When a second of downtime can cost thousands of dollars in missed revenue, any problems in a credit card processing system needs to be fixed without delay. While service availability and processing connectivity issues should not be a problem, nothing is 100% guaranteed.

Businesses need to know that someone is always there to fix any unforeseen issues, immediately.

I am getting a fair price!

Its not important to get the lowest price on earth, but if someone else costs 25% less, theres a problem. A quality service costs money, but is also competitively priced. Cost should be low enough that a business owner doesnt immediately consider switching when someone comes along with something a little lower. The quality of service should make up for any minor differences in price.

Conclusion – the perfect merchant account – The perfect merchant account is competitively priced and stays that way. Regardless of the processing method, it does not have problems with connectivity or in getting a business the money that they process. There must be someone on the other end of a phone, ready to correct any problem that should happen to arise, and problems should be rare. Does your merchant account work this way?

A business owner has better things to do than worry about their merchant account!

The last i have public a post talking about this trouble and i have explain so much about it. So, you will ask why this post public for what ? Because this is tips of Google Adsense Team release for us and help us protect your account from invalid click unwanted .

Here are the tips from the AdSense team:

Weve provided some points below to help address and clarify some invalid clicks issues:

We understand that its not always possible to control the behavior of your users, but you can be proactive about monitoring your traffic, and you can take steps to ensure that your site provides a helpful and safe environment for users and advertisers. Here are some top tips for keeping your account in good standing (which you may have seen before): view more

    * Expanding on the tip Be aware of how your site is promoted., wed like to remind you that, should you purchase traffic to promote your site, you do so at your own risk. There are many site promotion services out there that appear to be legitimate PPC advertising companies or search engines, but actually may be sending artificial traffic to your site for their own gain. (For legal reasons, were not allowed to disclose the names of such services.)To combat this, we highly recommend that you use channels to segment your traffic by source (e.g. a channel for your sites Google AdWords traffic only). If one channels reports look particularly suspicious, you may want to consider unsubscribing from that traffic service. We also recommend using Analytics to slice and dice your traffic reports further to ensure that youre receiving clicks from users who are genuinely interested in your ads.

   * Though we encourage you to be proactive about monitoring your site and ad traffic, we highly discourage the use of click tracking via third-party software or custom ad implementations. These methods may:

Inadvertently disclose sensitive information about you or your site to a third-party
Disrupt Googles ad delivery or click logging in a way that violates our Terms and Conditions

In addition, click tracking may not provide you with significantly more information than you can already find in your AdSense or Analytics reports. We believe that the creative use of channels can help you gain detailed insights into your account.

   * If you see unusual activity on your account, feel free to submit this form to let us know: click here . Please note that we will only respond if we find a significant issue with your account.

   * Invalid clicks can come from many sources, as described at here . While were unable to go into the details of our monitoring system, you should know that invalid clicks dont always mean clicking on your own ads or using click bots. Our Ad Traffic Quality Team looks for numerous types of activity that may inflate advertiser costs, then takes the necessary actions to protect our advertisers.

   * That said, we still find that many publishers are clicking on their own ads, possibly because they feel that Google is disregarding those clicks. Keep in mind that even though we filter the revenue from an invalid click, we dont ignore it completely. If we detect significant invalid activity on your AdSense ads, we may take action on your account to protect our advertisers from inflated costs. Here are some examples of situations in which clicking your own ads is prohibited:

Clicking out of interest in the ad content
Clicking to see an ads destination URL, such as for filtering purposes (we recommend trying the AdSense Preview Tool, available at here )
Clicking to ensure that Google is properly registering clicks on your ads (we log all ad clicks, but it can sometimes take up to 24 hours before your reports are finalized)
   Clicking to test your website

   * For general invalid click questions, you can find more information at here

   * For questions about AdSense accounts disabled for invalid clicks, you can find more information at here

Followup from Jen: Anyone have any additional tips they use to protect their accounts? I think this pretty much covers most of what I do or advise clients to do in order to protect their AdSense accounts. The most important tip, in my opinion, is the one about being cautious when buying traffic (well, aside from the obvious one of never clicking your own ads!) Too many people get tempted with offers of cheap traffic, but always keep in mind you will never be sure if the traffic is legitimate or artificial. So while you are pretty safe buying PPC ads on Google, Yahoo and Bing/adCenter, definitely avoid third tier networks where you cannot judge the traffic quality first. Anyone had any horror stories with buying bad traffic?

Thanks so much because Google Adsense Team has release these tips for us.

    Hello Publisher,

Thank you for your interest in Google AdSense. While reviewing your application, we found that your address information matches a currently approved AdSense account or a banned adsense account. For AdSense publishers in certain countries, were only able to accept one account per physical address. As a result, were unable to accept your application for the program at this time.

   We appreciate your understanding.

Hello all Cambodian friends and all around the world !
After creating blog or website, Now we could register for Google's adsense (Google's AdSense is a free program that allows online publishers to earn revenue by displaying relevant ads on a wide variety of content. Although it is easy to use, it is more difficult to turn these ads into a substantial profit.) When I was in university I told my classmate, some say it is just a cheat.
No, it is true that I could earn at least $ 2 per day when I started at the first time. Yes.. it is just a fun from my relax when I bored and I start to do what I prefer,I post the news ( khmer news) something like that, or I chat with friends send them my blogs. Since then I know more things new from day to day I could say I always update my brain. so I could earn more money from my blogs.
Ok.. I dont need to talk alot
Now you can register for Google Asense Here

For individuals that generate a large number of web sites, or other locations where ads can be placed, Google Adsense is an ideal way to make money. In order to take advantage of this opportunity, you will have to sign up for an Adsense account. It is important to realize that even if you already have a Gmail account, or some other service hosted by Google, you will still need to sign up separately for Adsense.

Once you have located the Adsense registration page, you will need to provide some basic information. Among other things, you will need to provide a physical address. Even if you use a post office box for mailing, Google will not deliver payment to that address. If you feel uncomfortable about disclosing your physical address online, the best thing to do is not sign up for Google Adsense. You may also want to let Google know you do not like their policies on this issue.

After you have completed the registration process, you will need to register each page on your site so that advertisements can be placed on your page. Although the process is not complicated, you will need the assistance of the Adsense tutorials the first few times that you set a page up for Adsense. You will also need to insert a snippet of code on your webpage, so that Google can place the ads where you want them to be seen. Nazmi Coban, the mayor of the town of Saray, said rescue workers there recovered the bodies of a mother and her three daughters, and were still searching for the father who was swept away by floods.

Rescuers also found the bodies of an elderly couple whose house collapsed in the floods, the state-run Anatolia news agency reported. Saray is in Tekirdag province, close to the border with Greece.

Two bodies were discovered in the Istanbul suburb of Catalca, local Mayor Yuksel Ayhan told private NTV television.

Heavy rains that began late Monday washed away bridges and roads, and inundated hundreds of homes in the region. Dozens of farm animals were swept away by gushing waters.

Heavy rains caused floods in Istanbul's seaside Silivri suburb, as well, and two people were reported missing. One was a girl whose mother and sister managed to get out of a car safely before the girl was dragged away by the floods, Istanbul Gov. Muammer Guler said.

In Silivri, police and military helicopters were sent to rescue people confined to their homes, according to television footage. Dozens of cars were swept away, some ending up in the sea. A fire truck could be seen lying on its side.

People climbed on top of rooftops waiting to be rescued, NTV reported.

Two international highways linking Istanbul to the borders with Greece and Bulgaria were closed temporarily, Anatolia reported.

On Monday, a Cambodia-flagged freighter broke into two and sank in heavy storms off the Black Sea coast of Istanbul. All 12 crew members were rescued.

More rain was forecast for the area Wednesday.

BOULDER - A freshman from the University of Colorado at Boulder is making a difference in some young people's lives that are half a world away.

Heather Starbuck says her life changed a year and a half ago, when she visited the Cambodian town of Pailin.

"I want to go back someday," Starbuck said.

The tiny community is situated along the country's Western border, near Thailand; almost everyone who lives there is poor.

"It just makes me think, 'Wow, we have it really well here in the United States,'" Starbuck said.

The town's needy reputation is what sparked Heather's interest in the first place.

"One of [its] main problems is education, without education you can't have substantial income coming in," Starbuck said.

She figured, if she could inspire kids to learn more, then they could get better jobs and ultimately help boost their community's economy.

"They really understand how important education is," she said.

Heather started a campaign called "Operation Lyhou." It's named after a boy she met in Pailin.

"It's taking off a lot faster than I thought it would," Starbuck added.

She's hoping to raise $13,000 by selling T-shirts she designed. So far, Heather has collected more than $750 in three weeks.

"It's a big task, but I'm willing to take it on," Starbuck said.

The money will help create a building, some solar panels, wire the rooms with Internet access and provide the students with an English teacher.

"Anything you give these kids, they'll take full advantage of," she said.

( Will Morgan )

Several things about Heather Starbuck's trip to Cambodia last year made an impression on her. The heat. The cockroaches that crunched under her feet when she walked down the hallway of her hotel. The way the kids at the school she visited immediately caught on to "The Macarena."

The kids surprised the University of Colorado freshman in other ways, too.

As she was saying goodbye on her last day, a particularly outgoing 13-year-old boy named Lyhou approached her. He was one of the poorest in the school, she said; he wore the same shirt, green-and-white striped with a sassy saying -- "I Do What I Want" -- printed in English across the front, almost every day.

That day, he took off his sunglasses and gave them to her as a keepsake.

"They were probably his only personal possession," she said. "He had nothing but he was so generous."

Starbuck has started a campaign in Lyhou's name to raise money to build another school in Cambodia.

The 18-year-old launched Operation Lyhou (pronounced Lee-how) this past summer with the goal of raising $13,000. To reach her goal, Starbuck is selling trendy T-shirts emblazoned with a sketched peace sign for $19.99 each.

So far, she said, she's raised $526.

Starbuck is working with an organization called American Assistance for Cambodia, which has helped build more than 400 elementary and middle schools in rural Cambodia since 1999. Through the organization, World Bank will match Starbuck's $13,000. The money will pay for the construction of a modest school and other amenities, including teachers, computers and solar panels, she said.

"The kids there love school," she said, adding that they often came early or stayed late and showed up on weekends to use the computers.

"It's amazing to see how much they took advantage of it," she said -- especially coming from the United States, "where school is seen as such a drag."

Starbuck traveled to Cambodia as a high school junior. Her school, the private Overlake School in Redmond, Wash., had raised the money to build a primary school in the town of Pailin, Cambodia, several years earlier, a project profiled in a New York Times column about the problem of sex trafficking in Cambodia and the positive effects of education.

Every two years, students from Overlake return to Pailin to make improvements and volunteer there, teaching English, dental hygiene and other subjects for two-and-a-half weeks.

Starbuck ended up on the trip by chance. She was new to Overlake and halfway through her junior year, hadn't chosen an activity for the school's "project week." Someone dropped out of the coveted Cambodia trip at the last minute and she snagged a spot, not knowing what to expect. At the time, she said, she was bitter, "an angry high school kid who thought school was boring."

Visiting Pailin changed that.

"I was feeling really down," she said, "but it made me realize there are so many better things you could be doing than feeling bad for yourself. Somewhere in the world, someone has it worse."

The trip inspired Starbuck to intern with two nonprofit groups -- a microfinancing organization called Global Partnerships and the aid agency Mercy Corps -- and eventually apply to CU, where she's studying international affairs.

She said she chose CU partly because the school is ranked the No. 5 all-time producer of Peace Corps volunteers, a path she's considering pursuing after graduation.

Starbuck keeps in touch with Lyhou, who's now 14 and in high school. At first, she said, the e-mails they sent were simple: "How's the weather? Did you go to school today?"

But in the year and a half since she last saw him, Lyhou's English has improved. In one of his last messages, he asked what she sees as a very important question: "How's college?"

Lyhou told her he wants come to the United States to study.

"He seems to have really big goals," Starbuck said.

So does she. source http://khmernz.blogspot.com/2009/09/cu-freshman-raising-money-to-help-build.html

The Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation announced last week that the country is now facing local transmission of the influenza A(H1N1) virus, commonly known as swine flu.

A joint statement released last week said five new cases were discovered to have been contracted within the country.

"Five Cambodians were confirmed as having contracted the virus locally with no history of travel or contact with travellers," the statement read.

As of August 31, the number of laboratory-confirmed cases of swine flu in Cambodia had risen to 31.
Sok Touch, director of the Anti-communicable Disease Department at the Ministry of Health, said Sunday that the ministry will release an updated number of laboratory-confirmed H1N1 cases every week on Friday.

Quarantine
He confirmed that the number of people affected by the swine flu virus has remained the same, and that no one has died.

The ministry has also requested that members of the public stay at home if they develop flu-like symptoms and call the Ministry of Health hotline for further advice and guidance at 012 488 981 or 089 669 567.

The statement added that further measures were needed.

"In an effort to slow down the spread of the disease in Cambodia, individuals who test positive for new influenza A(H1N1) will be requested to undergo treatment and isolation either at home or at a hospital for seven days from onset of symptoms," it said.

Phnom Penh’s development is continuing apace with investments in local and international companies, in high rises and other developments. Koh Pich (diamond island) is the latest.

The island originally appeared in the river near NagaWorld in 1984 and has become bigger and bigger since.

Formerly covered only with grass and anarchic ramshackle dwellings, the island is will see a major investment after the Cambodian Governm- ent’s sub degree approval to OCIC of Pung Kheav Se to make develop it into a new suburb.

Kep Chutema, Phnom Penh governor, told reporters that the island, formerly a den of iniquity and crime, now will be developed by the OCIC company.

“This island investment is author- ized properly by the Cambodian Government and this is to become a new city in Phnom Penh of which we are so proud as it is helping promote Cambodian livelihood in the near future,” said Kep Chutema.

Some questions have been raised over residents of the areas who have been evicted, environment concerns, especially the water flow which has changed.

The Environment Impact Assess- ment (EIA) was apparently deemed to be very important.

Ministry of Water Resource and Meteorology officials accompanied Phnom Penh authorities along with Investment company directors on Thursday had a tour for checking and following the process of developing the island.

Following investigations, Lim Kean Hor, Lake, River Limitation Committee head and Cambodian Mekong River Committee head, confirmed that “This company has not developed and invested in abuses of the Cambodian Government’s authority.”

However, the minister asked the company president to build bank protections to avoid erosion that could affect other local residents.

“Two years ago, my investment faced some problems with the citizens who lived along the river bank as we had to need their some part of land size to build bank protection so that all of them were unhappy,” Pung Kheav Se told reporters. “We have to keep wide face of water flow and if some part of land is occurring, we have to cut it off in order to avoid flood which leads to river bank collapse.”

“This bank protection is to be built for 3 km soon,” Lim Kean Hor said. “The water flow from Mekong through Bassac River is very narrow so that some part of land has to be taken off.”

The investment company head also confirmed that his companies has so far spent around US$55 million on the island, though progress has slowed due to the impact of the global economic crisis.

“Some expert officials working in Environment Impact Assessment from China and Vietnam showed their similar result of EIA with Cambodian expert officials.”

Cambodian expert officials must now be careful to follow the assessment of this island investment as it could have major implications for the Mekong River.

A Chinese celebration held in Cambodia on Thursday needed five tons of pork.

Cambodian-Chinese and Chinese immigrants both were very busy preparing food for their ancestors as the Chinese ceremony dictates.

“Today, I have 5,000 pigs to be sold, but we usually sell only about 3,000 normally,” a pork vendor told DAP News Cambodia on Thursday.

Srun Pov of the Cambodian Pig Farmers Group said that only businessmen benefit from the Chinese ceremony while pig farmers “do not gain benefits this season.” “Many pigs are exported from Thailand and Vietnam which disheartens us.” One housewife said pork vendors did brisk trade in the capital’s markets.

“I saw a crowd of people buy pig meat in markets,” Yan Lin told DAP News Cambodia on Thursday. Cambodian Government officials allowed the import of 800 pigs, but Srun Pov claimed there were clearly many more pigs imported.

“Careful pig checking is not implemented by the officials so it can affect human health,” he added.

Kao Phal, a health ministry official, could not be reached on Thursday to comment on these allegations.

Many complained of perceived price gouging, with a 5kg pig fetching the nearly US$60.
